Job Summary: The Country Counsel will be based out of Ho Chi Minh and will provide legal and compliance support to Brenntag.
Duties and Responsibilities:
A. Leading all legal and compliance matters for Brenntag Vietnam and assigned APAC projects;
B. Providing practical/ commercial legal advice to management and internal stakeholders regarding legal issues and risks;
C. Experience in corporate commercial and contract review and management work:
(i) Reviewing, drafting and negotiating a variety of contracts in local language and legal documents (both commercial and non-commercial). Candidates with experience in reviewing procurement and supply contracts and experience in dispute resolution are preferred;
(ii) Working with the regional counsel on local and regional high value contracts in English;
(iii) ensuring all contracts accurately reflect commercial decisions, and are in compliance with all applicable laws;
(iv) Ensuring contracts are executed in compliance with company policies on internal corporate approvals;
(v) Independently drafting and responding to legal notices received by the Company;
(vi) Appointing and liaising with external counsels to streamline non-tax litigations involving the Company and submitting quarterly reports on litigation status; and
(vii) Familiarity with competition laws in the Asia-Pacific region.
D. Providing legal advice relating to employment matters and be a trusted partner to the human resources department;
E. Implementing Brenntag APAC legal and compliance policies and guidelines and conducting necessary trainings as instructed by the Brenntag APAC legal department;
F. Attending to registration, maintenance and renewal of intellectual property for assigned countries;
G. Enabling proper and coherent communication between regional legal and local commercial for alignment of goals and objectives;
H. Providing support to and reporting to Brenntag APAC Head of Legal and Regional Counsel, APAC.

Job Requirement/Specification:
- Bachelor of Laws Degree (minimum) from a top university in Vietnam. Overseas education is a strong advantage.
- Holder of a valid Attorney/ Legal Practitioner License in Vietnam.
- Excellent command of the English and Vietnamese language (written and spoken). Ability to communicate clearly in English is a must.
Experiences / Requirements:
(a) At least 4 years of post-qualification experience, with solid training in private practice (dispute resolution and commercial law). In-house experience in an MNC is an added advantage;
(b) Ability to prioritize multiple projects under strict deadlines and ability to multi-task and handle highly confidential information;
(c) Ability to work independently without daily supervision;
(d) Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Powerpoint);
(e) Solid technical competencies in general corporate and commercial law, contract law, intellectual property law, with excellent drafting skills;
(f) Demonstrated enthusiasm and willingness to learn;
(g) Diligent, meticulous, detail oriented, and analytical, with ability to exercise judgment to identify and escalate issues;
(h) Self-starter with strong project management, analytical and organizational skills;
(i) Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal and presentation skills to effectively work with various departments and business units within Brenntag;
(j) Commitment to high ethical standards with superb business acumen;
(k) Superior communication skills required with the ability to clearly and diplomatically articulate issues, solutions and rationale; and
(l) Strong personality with the ability to implement proper chain of approvals before signing of contracts.
