To provide commercial legal support and advice consistent with the Toll Legal Way and the Global Forwarding division strategy.
Commercial Activity
- Provide timely legal support and advice to Global Forwarding businesses and management generally (and other Toll businesses as required) under the guidance and direction of the Senior Legal Counsel – Global Forwarding including:
- drafting and reviewing service agreements and procurement agreements with particular focus on liability, insurance, term and termination provisions.
- general legal advice
- regulatory governance
- ad hoc due diligence assistance on acquisitions and divestments
- Ensure corporate governance rules and processes are maintained and enforced
- Work closely with the business in understanding the service industry & commercial requirements when considering legal terms & conditions.
- Work closely with the other corporate functions on a daily basis or on a project basis as and when required.
Education and Communication
- Educate and inform Global Forwarding management about Toll Group and Global Forwarding policies, legal requirements and obligations of particular importance to the Global Forwarding Businesses, including laws governing competition, corrupt practices, applicable foreign investment regimes and transport and logistics law developments in each jurisdiction.
- Keep abreast of latest legal developments in general for the Global Forwarding Businesses in particular.

SKILLS ESSENTIAL TO THE JOB
- Degree in Law, with commerce or finance or post graduate jurisdictionally relevant qualifications well regarded
- Preferable to be admitted as a Legal Practitioner and maintain legal practising certificate in home jurisdiction.
- Fluent in English.
- Experience in the logistics industry and familiarisation with 3PL and contract logistics concepts and issues well regarded.
- Multi-National Corporation and Public Listed Company experience well regarded.
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
- Corporate Secretarial and M&A experience well regarded.
- Stakeholder management and relationship building skills.
- Proven interpersonal understanding and empathy for others.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Professional: Degree in law, with commerce or finance or post graduate regionally relevant legal qualifications well regarded.
Licences: Admitted as a Legal Practitioner.
