Position Summary:
The Chemical Engineer – Testing Lab & Compliance is responsible for conducting chemical analyses, maintaining regulatory compliance, and supporting chemical safety and documentation within the Testing Center. This role plays a key function in ensuring that raw materials, coatings, adhesives, and final products meet both internal standards and international chemical regulations.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct chemical testing and analysis of raw materials, coatings, adhesives, and finished products.
- Ensure all materials comply with applicable chemical regulations and standards (e.g., REACH, RoHS, Prop 65, EN 71, etc.).
- Develop and maintain chemical compliance documentation (e.g., SDS, CoC, test reports).
- Support the implementation of restricted substances lists (RSLs) and monitor supplier compliance.
- Perform internal audits and risk assessments related to chemical safety.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory instruments (e.g., GC-MS, FTIR, spectrophotometers).
- Support product development teams with chemical advice and formulation guidance.
- Liaise with 3rd party laboratories for verification testing when needed.
- Train internal staff on chemical safety, compliance requirements, and proper handling.
- Leadership and Ownership:
- Take ownership of the chemical compliance process and laboratory performance.
- Provide technical leadership and serve as a point of expertise in chemical safety and regulatory compliance.
- Act as a role model by promoting a culture of accountability and best practices.
- Process Analysis and Optimization:
- Analyze chemical testing workflows and identify areas for efficiency improvement.
- Propose and implement process improvements based on data analysis and audit results.
- Standardize documentation and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance.
- Change Management:
- Support implementation of new chemical regulations, methods, and compliance systems.
- Lead communication and training related to changes in chemical compliance requirements.
- Assist in managing the transition of testing methods and documentation updates.
- Continuous Improvement Culture:
- Promote continuous improvement within the testing team through feedback and suggestion initiatives.
- Apply Lean/Kaizen principles to lab processes to improve quality, speed, and cost-effectiveness.
- Encourage innovation in chemical compliance and analysis practices.
- Reporting and Communication:
- Prepare clear and accurate technical reports and compliance documentation.
- Communicate proactively with internal teams and external partners regarding test results, non-conformities, and regulatory updates.
- Escalate compliance issues and risks to the Compliance Manager or Laboratory Manager in a timely and structured manner.
- Complete other tasks assigned by superiors.
Yêu cầu ứng viên
- Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in chemical testing or compliance (preferably in furniture, paint, adhesives, or consumer goods).
- Strong knowledge of international chemical standards and regulatory frameworks (REACH, RoHS, SVHC, etc.).
- Experience working in a testing lab environment.
- Familiarity with analytical instruments and laboratory best practices.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in technical English for reporting and communication.
- Solid In-depth knowledge of international chemical standards and compliance procedures.
- Proficient in analytical techniques and lab instruments such as GC-MS, FTIR, and spectrophotometry.
- Ability to interpret complex regulations (REACH, RoHS, Prop 65, etc.) and apply them in testing protocols.
- Strong data analysis, documentation, and technical reporting skills.
- Familiarity with quality management systems and lab safety standards.
- Strong coordination skills to work with R&D, quality, and production departments.
