Job Purpose

• Responsible for the development, implementation, and management of the Engineering department through hands-on personal design work, direct reports and team specific projects assigned in the business unit with the strong commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Oversees the budgeted and non-budgeted, primary and secondary engineering projects involving fiber optic termini, connectors, assemblies, and value-added products for the business unit.
• Works effectively with the Product Management and the Quality departments including continuous improvement, corrective actions, and ensuring company processes are in line with ISO 9001.
• Plans, directs and implements policies and objectives of the department.
• Directly supervises staff, including but not limited to, interviewing, hiring and training employees; mentoring and coaching to enhance employee professional development; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving interpersonal conflicts between employees with the HR assistance.
• Ensures all engineering projects, initiatives, processes and completions are all in conformance with the company established policies, procedures and objectives.
• Works closely with all the relevant departments to ensure accurate and timely completion of all tasks assigned to the Engineering department.
• Provides strong project leadership while working in a team environment.
• Controls expenses appropriate to performance, processing, materials, product specifications and departmental activities (i.e., travel).
• Prepares project reports, project task lists and budgets for the department.
• Promotes Amphenol products and assists customers in application specific projects and programs.
• Effectively and efficiently communicates verbally and in writing with customers, all levels of the organization, within and outside of Vietnam.
• Travels as required to customers and Amphenol’s worldwide manufacturing facilities.
• Improves, maintains and cost-reduces sustaining products and programs.
• Designs and evaluates new products, within the scope of sales and marketing objectives.
• Applies knowledge of engineering principles to design complex connectivity products utilizing the component portfolio.
• Supports Amphenol’s worldwide manufacturing facilities and engineering teams as necessary.
• Utilizes necessary software tools (i.e. PROE, Solidworks, and AutoCAD) in design development and documentation. Strives to implement paperless, more efficient processes partnering with IT and senior management.
• Uses creativity to bring market-leading products and concepts through the engineering design process and successfully transfer to production.

Quality:

• Uses best practices in regards to engineering documentation, project tasks and ISO 9001 procedures.
• Works closely with the quality team to address any design issues.
• Responsible for assisting with Quality, including training of personnel and overseeing Quality departments in all plant facilities.
• Assures Internal/External Corrective Action opportunities are channeled through the CPAR system
• Maintains the Corrective Action program, inclusive of tracking status of open actions, receiving and reviewing responses, working with departments for timely completion and periodic reports.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from a four-year college/university.
• 3 years in design and engineering management or related experience and/or training.
• AutoCAD, Solidworks, PROE, Geometric Dimensions and Tolerances experience is required.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Prior experience leading teams and introducing changes.
• Experience with Quality Control and Corrective Actions. 
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows Desktop, web browsers, etc.
• Ability to work without supervision consistently performing duties to company standards.
