THE POSITION

We are looking to hire a Business Development Director to join one of our Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) deal sourcing teams. In this role, the Business Development Director will be responsible for building and leading a team of professionals dedicated to sourcing, qualifying, nurturing, and managing a robust pipeline of acquisition opportunities in Southeast Asia for our internal M&A team.

The Business Development Director will also be responsible for building relationships with CEOs, investment bankers, private equity (PE) and venture capital (VC) funds, and other senior leaders across various industries globally. The goal will be to identify and nurture attractive M&A opportunities that can expand our existing portfolio of software companies. Additionally, the Director will provide support and guidance to their team in achieving these objectives.

Experience in Private Equity, Venture Capital, or Investment Banking is a plus.

THE PERSON

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of exceeding targets in a fast-paced M&A deal sourcing environment. They should also have experience hiring, growing, and managing M&A deal sourcing teams, possess an entrepreneurial spirit, and be an independent thinker with strong management, leadership, and attention to detail.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Engage in meaningful dialogue with software company owners, shareholders, and other stakeholders
  • Establish, maintain, and nurture strong relationships with key stakeholders of vertical market software businesses that meet our strategic criteria, helping to progress prospective targets through the deal sourcing pipeline
  • Identify strategic opportunities that meet our criteria and add new companies and contacts to our proprietary CRM database
  • Analyze, manage, and search our existing CRM database for available prospects and stale leads that should be nurtured
  • Plan, develop, and conduct prospecting campaigns through LinkedIn, email, calling, attendance at trade shows, and in-person meetings
  • Leverage Constellation’s internal CRM and additional technology stack to conduct reports with the purpose of supervising and supporting associates in building a pipeline

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of experience in a management position
  • 3+ years of experience in M&A/VC/PE deal sourcing is an asset
  • 3+ years of experience in high-volume SaaS sales
  • 2+ years of experience in growth management of sales teams in high volume SaaS sales, and/or 2+ years of experience in management of teams executing M&A/VC/PE deal sourcing
  • Experience in hiring, developing, and growing a business development team
  • High curiosity and drive to connect with business owners, and learn about their business and their stories
  • Strong communication skills and capable of establishing and building rapport remotely
  • Strong leadership skills with a passion to lead a team to collectively succeed
  • CRM database and company research skills (ideally Salesforce)
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent, in Business/Economics or a related field, is preferred but not required
  • Advanced time management, attention to detail, organizational, strategic thinking, and analytical skills
  • Adaptable and flexible, with an ability to respond to changing work priorities, pressure, and demands
  • Must be self-motivated, able to work autonomously and think independently, and open to learning and sharing new ideas
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, and ability to work in a collaborative manner with the senior management team
  • Advanced Salesforce experience and proficiency in Salesforce reporting
  • Desire to travel to meet with companies / attend trade shows (ad hoc basis)
  • Excel skills and proficiency in other Microsoft Office applications (nice-to-have)
  • Advanced SalesLoft experience and proficiency in SalesLoft reporting (nice-to-have)
  • Language requirements: Vietnamese, English, Thai and Bahasa are an advantage
